Our story
- Babylon, NY
- Conor Hartnett had owned Mary Carroll’s Pub for thirty years.
- The call
- He asked his friend Aidan Lyons — then Digital Marketing Head at the NFL — whether big-business tools could work on a pub.
- COVID
- A few months later the pub closed its doors indefinitely.
- The insight
- Big businesses text their customers. Most small businesses don’t — because they assume it costs too much.
- The partner
- They took it to Slytrunk for a build quote. Slytrunk asked to be a partner instead.
- The test
- Over two years in the field, in working pubs, before it was sold to anyone.
“I think if I can help the NFL fill Stadiums, I can fill your pub.”
Months of brainstorming went by. Aidan brought in Rick Weldon, owner of Fish Technologies, who had built the fan engagement app for the NFL. It wasn’t much longer before the three of them had the moment that made the product.
Big businesses were texting their customers, and for good reason. Most small businesses were not — because they didn’t know where to start and assumed it was too expensive. Email marketing was dead for small businesses, and texting was the new email. There is no more direct way to reach a customer than for them to hand you their number and ask you to use it.
So the trio set out to build a texting tool for small businesses: one that collects customers’ mobile numbers easily, one that sends and measures a message, and a text-based rewards tool of the kind you already see at 7-Eleven, Dunkin’ and Starbucks.
Stick was born — stick around, stick with us, stick it to the competition. After more than two years of in-the-field testing, it is ready.
